Chandra X-ray spectral analysis of Centaurus A
Abstract
We analyzed the Chandra X-ray spectra of Centaurus A within 14 separate observations performed throughout 2022. We trace its flux evolution throughout this interval, and investigate its connection to spectral variations. Centaurus A features a strong, broad iron K line, which places significant bounds on the system geometry, especially the inner radius. Remarkably, it is detected at a low inclination, contrasting the Seyfert 2 classification, and the inclination of the host galaxy. We compare the evolution of the iron flux, and other reflection components to that of the continuum over the course of 8 months, and in comparison to archival observations. We image the jet, and investigate its X-ray properties. The ionized winds are also investigated.
